Check out our help guide to setting up your artwork, so that you get the best results.

Setting up page size.

When setting up your sheet size in your design program, first of all make sure your resolution is set to 300dpi for small format print, Business Cards, Flyers and stationery etc. and at least 150dpi for large format print posters, banners etc.

Bleed and Safety Margins.

When setting up your page size add 3mm extra on each side. EG. if setting up an A5 flyer make your total page size 216x154mm, this includes 3mm bleed which will be trimmed off during cutting, leaving your finished printed flyer at size 210x148mm. Please keep any important text at least 5mm within the finshed print size, shown as the white line opposite.

Colour Settings.

Make sure you set the colour mode of your page to CMYK before begining your design. This is because if you use the RGB colour mode, some colours cannot be reproduced, as the print process uses the CMYK colour space.  See examples opposite of how colours can differ between the two.

Fonts.

When saving as a PDF you may be asked if you would like to embed the fonts in the document. Selecting ‘yes’ packages the fonts with the document information files, so that when opened on another computer it will look exactly the same.  If you are using Adobe InDesign or Illustrator, you will be able to ‘outline’ your text. This will turn your text into a vector shape and ensures that it will not be converted in to another font when you send the file from one computer to another.
